How to use this guide

This guide explains, in plain words, what each LedgerLite screen does and what it records in your accounts, with worked examples in AED.

The side menu follows the LedgerLite menu. Each area opens with its most-used screen:

Area Start with
Sales Sales invoice, Payments received, Credit notes
Point of sale Opening and closing the register, Selling at the till
Purchases Purchases, Supplier payments
Banking & cash Daily cash and bank, Cash and bank accounts
Products & inventory Products, Stock levels and movements
Payroll Employees and pay setup, Pay runs
Accounting Chart of accounts, VAT
Reports Overview, Financial statements
Settings Business details and shop setup, Users and access
Data Exchange Imports and exports
Tailoring app Getting started and setup, Orders and deposits
  • No accounting background needed. Read the basics once; every screen page builds on it.
  • Amounts are in AED, with UAE VAT at the standard 5% unless a page says otherwise.
  • Your screens may differ slightly. Your administrator decides who sees which buttons, and some company settings change how a screen works. Each page says when a setting matters.
  • This guide matches LedgerLite version 0.1.207. Later versions may add or change screens.

Every screen page has the same eight parts

Section titled “Every screen page has the same eight parts”

They always come in this order, so you know where to look.

  1. What it’s for. The job the screen does and when to use it.
  2. Fields. What each box on the form means and what it changes.
  3. Buttons. What each button does, and the status the document moves to.
  4. What gets posted. The debit and credit lines, with worked AED examples.
  5. Where it shows up. Which balances and reports change afterwards.
  6. What the app blocks. What the app refuses, and the exact message you see.
  7. Who can do it. Which roles may use each action.
  8. Fixing a mistake. The right way to correct it once it is posted.

Press / or click Search at the top. Search for a button name, an account, a message the app showed you, or a word such as VAT.
